I must say that I am LOVING training for the 2008 KDF Marathon. I title my post, “It’s just about finishing..” because that has been my motto and that is what I tell people when they seemed overwhelmed by the training schedule for the mini or full marathon. It’s not like any of us are actually going to win the thing, but what an accomplishment to continue on and finish the race. As I continue to train, I’ve been asked a number of questions about running/health/nutrition etc.. I by no means am an expert at any of the above, but do some reading and take a real interest in all the topics I’ve listed. Here are a few resources I have found that have been very helpful for me.
The Best Food for Runners – This article is a must read. I’ve actually added the majority of these into my diet in some fashion, weekly, if not daily.
Not Loosing/Maintaining Current Weight While Running - A friend asked me just yesterday about this topic. She has taken up running, but hasn’t seen any real weight loss yet. I attributed some of it to maybe an increase in muscle and suggested that she should see a change in the shape of her body, but diet usually plays a factor. This article is great at trying to help the reader get a handle on what cards, fat and protein are needed in their diet to maintain or loose weight while running.
